Are you feeling the stress of job hunting and can’t seem to land the one you want? You might want to think about volunteering. It’ll keep your brain ticking along, make your CV attractive for future employers and you might just love it.
One’s a busy mumma, the other a smitten Gran. Both know just how full on parenting can be, especially on your own. “There’s moments of stress, you’ve just got to do what you do and carry on” says Rachel.
Cath noted that “when I was 11 weeks pregnant, hubby had a heart attack and he died on the kitchen floor.”
Both turned to PIPS for help as new mums for the feeling of not being alone, as they all had different things in common.
And each week, years on, both come back here to pay it forward for free.
Cath is a clothing sorter and sorts boxes of clothes, which she’s become quite fast with.
From volunteering with PIPS, Rachel has been able to train as a breast feeding counsellor and as a birth trauma support worker and is about to become a qualified car seat technician.

Each volunteer comes in with a slightly different journey and different reasons and we love to see that they very quickly become part of the place and the team.
At PIPS, that team is tight and a bit silly! Although funding is limited, smiles are free, rewards are rich.
Clients say that PIPS makes them feel like they belong somewhere and that it’s like a second home
It is always great when you see clients leaving in a better space. We have a policy
So New Zealand, here’s a thought, we’re in a season where people are considering new jobs and possibilities, volunteering is a great way to get those skills and experiences. You never know, it might just change your life.
We could not do what we do without them. Volunteers are the backbone of our organisation.
Are you able to help us support more volunteers?
